Map Updates, Improved Searching, Fences and more

November 26th, 2008 by Regulator Leave a comment Share on Facebook

Map Updates with Improved Searching:

Surprise!  We published our update today due to our Thanksgiving Holiday Thursday.  This week we can finally share with you some of the effort we have been putting into updating the map view and improving lot searching.

In the example above, I searched for the term “Spa”.  I can click on results to see where they are on the map. Lots where the owner has clicked on the Lot Snapshot Button button to take a snapshot of their lot will get that snapshot image showing up as seen above.

For lots with people in them, the markers will flash to attract your attention!

When you click on the Popular Searches button just under the search bar you will see these default searches (see picture at left).

Other Miscellaneous Updates:

We now have fences to add to your lots along with more walls.  We added one low brickwall and 2 low stonewalls, as well as a picket fence and a wooden corral type fence.  Look out for more coming soon.

You will also notice that the website store has a new section for Kitchen items, which for now includes the new counters pieces we added this week (see below) as well as some other miscellaneous items to help fill out our store collections.

We hope you enjoy the update this week.  And, for those of you in the states, all of us at Tirnua would like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Today’s Update: new game pieces, new community center and much more…

November 21st, 2008 by Suki Leave a comment Share on Facebook

With today’s update, we have added 2 new game pieces (an entire chess set and a cube). All game pieces now retain their state regardless of whether you leave the lot or join halfway through a chess game, etc! We are sure you are going to have fun with this feature. The cube is the first piece of an over-sized puzzle level game that users will be able to build for each other. Stay tuned for more pieces soon.

As blogged about yesterday, we are very excited to announce that we have added the additional Community Center, Tirnua Isla Spa!  So don’t forget to check it out and stay tuned for a blog announcing a gathering with the dev team there soon.  Click below to see a large image of this particularly beautiful lot!

We’ve added a snapshot feature that generates thumbnails for your rooms! These thumbnails will start showing up in your persona book and in Facebook. It’s work in progress :) they are a precursor to a dramatically more interesting mapview. Stay tuned…

On the UI front: check out the new row of buttons at the top of the screen. Here you will find quick access buttons - over time we plan to have those highlight interesting and frequently visited parts of the game.

Visitors, chat and inventory tabs are now all included in one panel with the homeviewer. And, you will notice some new icons in the home viewer.

and the much more… you can enter your room directly from Facebook; on the map, we have a assigned a unique location to all current lots; you will find that the placeholder Tipjar and ATM have new graphics and you will find new items for purchase in the Tirnua Isla spa. On your persona web, look for public feeds, new buttons and room and avatar images that have been added; on the homepage, we have added a ‘Most Visited Player Rooms’ list to show you where the action is!

As always enjoy,

We need to hold off on our publish until tomorrow but I wanted to give you a sneak preview of a new room that we hope to see you in - its an improved look Community Center called the Tirnua Isla Spa!

Please stay tuned for a blog announcing a gathering there soon with the dev team.

Today’s Release

November 13th, 2008 by Regulator Leave a comment Share on Facebook

As Luc gave you a preview of in his blog this morning, we now have walls that stick (check them out… they are bamboo!), new floor tiles and we listened to your suggestions for the game piece and added 2 new taller pieces to use as kings.  You can buy the tiles and wall panels in sets of 30 and 40, respectively.  Just dragging them onto the lot switches you into the tile or wall editing mode. Use the shift key to delete walls or tiles.

In addition to this, we have added an ATM and it is functional!  It is still a placeholder object like the tip jar - look for the real objects for both coming soon.  When you buy TAU from the ATM in game or from the Tirnua Bank on the store link, the TAU will be transferred directly to your default persona.

We have added bulk purchase discounts to encourage users to create their own stores. You can purchase in bulk from any of the Tirnua Stores in game or from the store link.  We are working on the user stores, they will be coming your way soon.

On the Tirnuan Map, you will notice that Tirnua now has an island reserved just for Tirnua.  Click on any of the Tirnua collection stores to see the location we have chosen. More objects have been added to the stores, look for more cool rugs in each of the collections. We forgot to mention last week, that we changed how to remove items from your lot. Many of you probably figured it out by now, but in case, just drag it and drop it back into your inventory when in edit mode.

Have fun and see you in the game.

Play in Tirnua through Facebook

November 9th, 2008 by TirNua Sarah Leave a comment Share on Facebook

This is a quick How To:

Log in to facebook and then click on any facebook feed telling you about Tirnua or, for now, this link:

You will be presented with this standard screen to add the app and then you will see this:

If you already have a Tirnua account please select the second option. Otherwise, for people that are new to Tirnua, the first link with create their account for them, create a persona and log you directly into the game to start playing straight away!

We are working on the whole flow of the app so that it is more intuitive for these brand new users - we realize that things have a ways to go on that front! Your feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Bookmarking the Tirnua App:

Unfortunately facebook does not automatically add the app so that you can get to it easily in future but here are some things you can do.

To see at the bottom of your browser while in faceboook, go to Edit applications page, click Edit on the Tirnua line, and Bookmark Tirnua:

I then clicked that very bottom left Applications button and dragged Tirnua to the top of the applications list so that it would also show on my Home page in facebook like so.

If you want to log in from the tirnua website you can now click the Connect with Facebook button:

I’ll write a few more posts about privacy controls, how to invite friends, etc.,

Please send us your comments and suggests - we really want to make this a pleasing and easy experience for new users coming to us through facebook.

Maps and Lot Architecture- the Beginning!

Sorry for the delay in the release. All our new work brought with it many bugs. We believe you won’t be disappointed.

Lot Views on the Homepage, Tirnuan Map and Searching
This week, the first thing you will notice is another update to the homepage; check out some of the cool lots members of the community have been putting together. (Thanks to the players that sent us in their screenshots). As soon as you Join the Game; the first thing you will notice is that we have a map! This is not the final look nor does it show all of Tirnua but it is a start. Click on a lot and you will notice a pinhead show up on the map. Clicking on the pinhead will take you to that lot. Along with the map, initial searching has been implemented. You can now search for My Lots, Open Lots or by a specific lot name title such at Community Center. Don’t get too attached to this version of the map or to the searching; enhancements and changes are on the way.

Under the Store link, you will notice we have re-organized the Tirnua Stores to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for.

New with Objects this Week

  1. This week we bring you another game piece - a Dice Object with a roll interaction. You can find the dice in the Entertainment Category in the Store.
  2. Floor Tiles for your lots - you can purchase stacks of floor tiles from the Store in the Flooring Category. Next week, we plan to bring you Walls for your lots. Notice when you click Edit Mode you now have the choice of editing floors or walls but that the walls will not persist after you leave the lot.
  3. We have improved upon the quality of the objects - you should notice that things like long sofas etc look a bit better now. Again, we added even more this week - new types includes Rugs and Bath items.

Hope you enjoy and until next week!

P.S. You might want to avoid the 3D characters for a while as they are still very much under developemnt

Images Please!

November 1st, 2008 by Leave a comment Share on Facebook

Hello Everyone,

We hope you all have been enjoying the new furniture and objects.  Our homepage is going through a re-design and we would love to feature samples of what you are doing to decorate your spaces.  Would you please send me some screenshots?  The main requirement is that they be 350 x 250 pixels, jpeg or png.  I have found that centering an object or arrangement, at 1 - 1.5 zoom, works very well.  But this is all up to you!  Please send the images to me at margaret  Thank you very much, I am really looking forward to this.

Best regards,
