Halloween in TirNua is Creeping In!

The perceptive among you will already have noticed that the Halloween Store is back in business! Check for it under TirNua Stores. Hurry while it’s up, and take this opportunity to decorate your place in the spirit of Halloween!

We thought we’d do a little deco event to celebrate. :)

How would you like to get 10 Green Pieces in your virtual wallet? They could come in handy in the near future!

All you need to do is to decorate your lot and try to capture that real spirit of Halloween.

If you need ideas, a few things you could do are for example… A graveyard…. A pumpkin patch… A corn maze… A haunted house… A spider’s nest… or even your own Halloween ride, with conveyor belts players can ride through a creepy maze. Or how about doing something with black cats? Your creativity and imagination is the only limit!

If you are a resident, don’t forget you can also make your own custom walls and floors. You can go to www.shoutcast.com and find a good Halloween radio channel for that right ambience, and tune in on your TirNua radio, or just tune into your favorite radio station and hope for some spooky tunes. If you killed a maple tree or other tree, put them to good use now. Go wild! We would love to see everyone’s creativity!

This isn’t really a contest so there will be no final winner, but we will award 10 Green Pieces to everyone who participates and follows the rules. At this moment you can use them to buy tau or as part of the payment for a resident badge, but you can also save your GP and see what else we will have in store for you later.

This is how you participate

  • Decorate your lot for Halloween
  • The lot must contain some item from the Halloween store or look distinctly Halloween-like
  • You must be the person who decorated it
  • Only one lot per person, and one person per lot
  • You may not use alt personas to participate more than once, attempts to do so will be disqualified from this and future events
  • Comment on this blog post, or click yourself and Contact Tirnua, and let us know which lot you decorated, and who owns it
  • The deadline is on Sunday November 4, 2012 at midnight pst

You do not need to add a picture. Just make sure the lot is still decorated on Monday. We will go around taking pictures of the lots and add our favorites to the next blog post. Your lot could be pictured right here on the TirNua blog, with all the glory that will bring!

Today’s Maintenance - Improved Skill Locks for Residents!

As many of you noticed we took the servers down for a short maintenance today.

Cats are back - and they’re hungry!

As we wrote last week we turned the cats back on so they would be mating and getting kittens again, causing a massive baby boom in the Tirnua cat community. Cats were still kept happy and they didn’t have as much need for food, as we didn’t want anyone losing a cat because of the server issues. This week the cat owners among you will notice the cats starting to eat and using the litterbox again. It’s time to start feeding and caring for them again. Get back on those cat rounds! :) .

Resident skill locks

Resident days and skill locks are accumulating!

By being a resident of TirNua, you get a lot of perks. One of those is that you can lock some of your skills to stop them from deteriorating while you are offline. For every 30 days as a resident you will get a new skill lock!

Your Green thumb score and your Energy mogul score will also grant you new skill locks as a resident. For every third level in Green thumb, and every level in Energy mogul, you will now be gaining another lock!

If you are a guest, you won’t be able to earn more skill locks. You will only have the (now) 16 base locks. They will prevent your EMP capacities from dropping down to 0, but you can’t earn any additional locks.

If you stop subscribing, you will lose the variable locks and go back to the 16 base locks. As soon as you become a resident again, it checks how many resident days you have accumulated in total and gives you back the locks based on those days. To make the game recalculate your variable locks you should go to your locks and change a lock setting. You may need to do this twice, once to recalculate and once to actually allocate the locks where you wanted them to be.

To access locks and choose which skills you want to lock, click on your persona in the game and choose Manage - Locks.

Other fixes and changes

There have been other smaller fixes and changes made too.

  • The windmills have been further tuned and should now charge evenly
  • Thumbnail images in inventory should be fixed
  • We are still looking into the potted plants and christmas trees changing their pictures.
    As a workaround, for most trees you can place these in inventory and back out again to get the correct picture back.

There are still some server issues in the game that we are still working on fixing, and we appreciate all your comments and feedback. Let support know of any problems! Apologies for the inconvenience and we will do our best to get everything back to normal as soon as possible.

Cats, windmills and lot searches

Developer update: the update 10/27/2012

  • enabled cat simulation, please make sure your kitties are happy.
  • resident time should be ticking up and locks updating correctly. To make sure you have the correct locks, click on your persona select manage -> locks.  Change 1 lock. This will also ask the server to recalculate your total locks. Residents get a variable number of locks depending on time of residency and green thumb and energy mogul scores.
  • repo has been re-enabled. So please make sure your leases are renewed!
  • Windmills should be simulating more consistently now.

This morning our developers made significant progress in finding and fixing a bug with the site. The work continues, but we wanted to share some of the latest happenings with all of you.

As you probably will notice the list of open lots, and the searches for lots, should now once again be up and running. This makes it easier for you to find and navigate to all of your lots again.

Windmills are coming along, and the cats are once again giving birth and growing up. We have received reports of births happening all over TirNua - up to a whopping 37 kittens in one player’s inventory, and some rare mutants have also been discovered as the kittens matured. Congratulations to the proud “parents”! :)

There is still a lot of work to do on the site. All apologies for this and thank you for all the support. We will continue the work, and do our very best to keep you all updated on the progress as we move along.

An update about our ongoing server issues

As you have noticed the game is experiencing many difficulties right now, following the server migration on Wednesday evening. We are still working on the issues and have decided to leave the game open so you can keep playing through these difficulties, but there are definitely problems that we are working on correcting.

We are very sorry about these problems and work to have them corrected as soon as possible.

We have decided not to repossess any resident badges until further notice. You do not need to worry about losing any time while we are having these difficulties.

We appreciate your patience and support and are very glad to have you all as part of our TirNua community.

Fasten your seatbelts - it’s moving time!

It’s time for Tirnua to move to the Catroo servers.

The move is scheduled for Wednesday October 10, 2012, and should take place during the evening pacific time (US). We are aiming for the game to go down some time around 7 pm PST. Please note that this is a tentative time – it will be done manually and this means that it can change. If there are any changes to this time we will let you know as soon as we can by posting edits at the bottom of this post.

We expect the move to take between 4-6 hours. This is again a preliminary time frame.

Please know that you will not see the ”We are down for maintenance” screen. Don’t worry if you are seeing an error message when you try to log in during the move.

If you have friends you know don’t read the blog, spread the word ingame!

After the move is finished, you will be automatically redirected to tirnua.catroo.com from the old address. Please change your bookmarks to this new address once the move is done.

Cats and plants should be taken care of for you during the downtime, so you can just sit back and relax and enjoy the trip. :)
